The Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship at Princess Sumaya University for Technology announced a strategic partnership with the European Union for Global Entrepreneurship Week 2020. The partnership comes as part of the Jordanian Action for the Development of Enterprises (JADE) project, and the promotion of entrepreneurship in Jordanian society. Global Entrepreneurship Week, this year in its twelfth edition, will be held in the middle of November with the participation of students and faculty from public and private universities, workers from various sectors, government and private institutions, and non-profit institutions representing more than 170 countries. The event will be held via visual communication technology.
The Director of the QRCE, Mohammad Obeidat, said that the partnership comes to support entrepreneurship and modern applied sciences, and to pursue scientific and technological developments. He emphasized the need to take steps concerned with the science of entrepreneurship, embodying the importance of integrating the efforts and cooperation of specialists in order to increase the success rate of new entrepreneurial projects, which will be reflected in improving economic development.
Obaidat added that the event comes in the wake of the consequences of the Corona pandemic and the growing voices calling for a complete transformation towards a knowledge economy that depends on managing the available economic resources on full knowledge, innovation, creativity, intelligence, information and investment in minds, in addition to the digital transformation that promises a smooth and more developed future.
Hamzeh Shamaileh, the country manager at the “Leaders International” office in Jordan, expressed his happiness with the partnership, saying: “We seek to stimulate and develop creativity and innovation among Jordanians to open new horizons for fresh opportunities among young people in light of the high unemployment rate by promoting a culture of entrepreneurship and support for new technological and pioneering solutions to contribute to achieving sustainable development.” Leaders International is the implementing partner of the (JADE) project.
On the sidelines of the week’s activities, the Center is holding a competition for Jordanian university students with the aim of simplifying and disseminating the concept of entrepreneurship and giving them the opportunity to put themselves in the place of entrepreneurs through innovative workshops.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is an important worldwide event to celebrate creative people, innovators and entrepreneurs, and an occasion to stimulate and develop entrepreneurship among young people and those who possess aspiring and innovative ideas. It also helps to introduce the concept of entrepreneurship, which is one of the pillars of achieving economic development and growth in society.
